The BCA hosted a Careers in Biostatistics Webinar on 25th May 2023.

To ensure continuous improvement of the BCA program, an external program review was conducted in 2019. The review produced a set of recommendations outlining how the program could be further developed and adapted to respond to the broadening demands of biostatistics in the workplace; be it in government, industry or academia. These recommendations formed the basis of a restructure of the BCA Masters and Graduate Diploma in Biostatistics.

The new structure reduces the number of core (compulsory) units, allowing greater flexibility in the choices of elective units. Additionally, students will be able to choose up to 2 elective units for the Masters degree (and 1 for Graduate Diploma) from outside the list of BCA electives.

We are excited to introduce these changes; to offer a program that aligns with changing student needs and enables more choice within the program to suit particular and varying interests.

The 2021 Australian and New Zealand Statistical Conference will take place virtually from 5-9 July 2021 and will bring together three leading statistical communities – the Statistical Society of Australia, the New Zealand Statistical Association – and the Australian Conference on Teaching Statistics.

The aim of ANZSC 2021 is to bring together a broad range of researchers and practitioners across a variety of statistical disciplines to facilitate the exchange of theory, methods and applications.

Congratulations to Annette Dobson on being awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Statistical Society of Australia.

Annette was the inaugural Chair of the Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia (BCA) and was a Program Coordinator for many years.
