BACKGROUND:
Clinical Research Collaborative Network or CRCN, located at Bangkok, has an opportunity for a statistician to lead Biostatistics Section of the organization. CRCN is a not-for-profit academic clinical research organization founded in 2000 by the Consortium of Thai Medical Schools and Health System Research Institute of Thailand. We aim to improve health care quality and effectiveness of the nation. We act as a main contact point for multicenter clinical research services for all 17 medical schools and a number of affiliated hospitals of the Ministry of Public Health as well as 30 clinical professional organizations. We also provide clinical research capacity development of the hospital clinical research centers within the network. We are currently producing a number of research outputs and maintaining 15 large clinical databases. Number of sample size varies from 500 to 160,000. Number of participating hospitals are from 5-50 for each project.
With many databases that are ready for maximum utilization, with a number of motivated clinical colleagues, and many other academic professionals, quality statistical services is needed. Despite the exist of a number of statisticians who formed a network called Data Management and Biostatistics Network (DMBN) which has been working closely with CRCN, demands consistently exceed supplies. Thus we need a statistician to lead in establishing a Biostatistics Section at CRCN and provide quality statistical services for our investigators.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will bring together academic training in biostatistics to provide statistical services and medical writing for clinical research. He/she will design studies, analyze the data, and consult with clinical and/or academic collaborators on interpreting the results as well as writing the reports. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work with senior statisticians in CRCN. They are from many universities in Thailand and PhD students as well as their supervisors from abroad.
The successful candidate will have a range of interesting and challenging opportunities for significant collaborations with clinicians, epidemiologists, health economists, pharmacists, health social scientists, data managers and data programmers along with opportunities for research, publication, career advancement, and professional development.
REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Biostatistics or Statistics a closely related field.
PREFERENCES:
In addition to excellent academic training, a passion for consulting, fluency in English, and excellent interpersonal skills are important to success. A record of presentations, publications, and consulting experience, particularly in industry, is highly desirable. Strong computing skills are essential with primary focus on the use of Stata. Experience with SPSS or R is also desirable.
JOB STATUS:
Preferable is to work full time but part time can also be arranged. The contract will be on annually basis. This position will last for at least 5 years.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
