Val Gebski

 

A/Prof Val Gebski is the director of bioiostatistics and research methodology and analysis at the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre (CTC), University of Sydney. He directs the statistical methods and research methods at the CTC in oncology trials as well as being involved in wider issues of clinical trials design. He co-coordinates the unit: 'Advanced Clinical Trials ', for the Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia; and teaches 'Controlled Clinical Trials Methods' in the graduate programmes of the School of Public Health and Community Medicine at The University of Sydney. He supervises students (Masters, PhD) in areas of meta-analysis, competing risks and quality-of-life methods. He is the statistical examiner for the Australasian & New Zealand College of Radiologists and serves on a number of national and international Data Safety and Monitoring Committees (chair and member) as well the Shared Scientific Advisary Committee for NSW Department of Health. He is the Group Statistician for the Aust and New Zealand Breast Cancer Trials Group, Aust Gastro-Intestinal Trial Group, and Aust and New Zealand Gyneacological Oncology Group.
